“Grand View Baptist Church was started in July 2011 when the Menyon family and three other Liberian families were sent out from the Fundamental Baptist Church International in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. Pastor Menyon graduated from Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa in September 2009.”

“It took over an hour for us to go from the nearest dry land to our home. . . . We broke into our door and stepped inside. Couches and chairs were floating in a black oily mess.”

“Dr. Armie Jesalva knew that we started a church in Dumaguete . . . he was certain it would be a soul-winning church when he heard that we were from Hyles-Anderson College and First Baptist Church of Hammond. He told me that there has not been a strong, soul-winning church in Dumaguete . . .”

The devastation that Team Thailand and all the Thai people are facing right now cannot be overstated. Dr. Mark Bosje recently shared the following posts on the FBC Thailand Facebookpage:
“The electricity has now been turned off in the entire area where we live. It is very difficult for the police to protect our villages. Thieves have been breaking into homes and stealing things from the upper floors.
Our team families will have a difficult enough time going back to their ruined homes without finding out that they have also been robbed. Please pray specifically for protection from looting.”
“Tomorrow morning Brother Tim Shook and I will be headed back to Nawong to bring food, water, and medicine to our people. The water on the street in our village is now over my head – nearly eight feet. Not yet sure how I will get my gate unlocked.”
“Leaving in 15 minutes. Three hour drive. Another hour by boat – or just walking chest high in water. Please pray the crocodiles are sleepy today!”
“Yesterday my neighbor was able to get into his house. He took this picture of our home while standing on his upstairs balcony.
Our front door is in the center of the photo. You can just see the top of the door. Above that is Sarah and Libby’s room. To the right is the carport, and Matthew and Nathan’s room is attached. The water is nearly touching the eaves. Everything the boys have is destroyed. Their beds, mattresses, clothes, and boyhood treasures are all gone.
All of our appliances are now under water. They will all have to be replaced. Of course, the water has to stop rising first. Then it has to recede. Then we have many days of cleanup.
The lighting of this photo makes everything look bright and cheery. It is a little more sobering when you realize that we have an eight foot fence in front of our house and you cannot even see it.”
Team Ghana and Fundamental Baptist Church International, led by Dr. Ted Speer, hosted another amazing African Pastors’ School in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. The focus was on soul winning. Hundreds of Ghanaians came for this conference. Ghanaian pastors found instruction and inspiration to lead their own church to obey our Saviour’s command to the church which we commonly call the Great Commission.
